In Focus your community magazine – Dainfern Nature Association June 2022
May has been a busy month on our Estate. We had a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration at the clubhouse and even though the weather was cold and rainy, there were smiles all around as families celebrated this special day with their moms.
Reptile Talk
The Dainfern Nature Association hosted the Chameleon Village Reptile Park visit and both young and old were enthralled by the creepies and crawlies that were shown and discussed. It was a wonderfully entertaining and educational morning attended by many residents and their families. Everybody learned something new on the day.
Ladies Club Champs
Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18 May saw the ladies competing for the Ladies Club Champ of 2022. The winner is Tylah James – congratulations. The course was in great condition, and we had 37 ladies playing for the Championship. Thanks go to all the participants for their support, the sponsors for their generosity as well as the whole golf team for ensuring that these two days ran extremely smoothly.
Bird Walk
André Marx hosted an incredible bird walk on Saturday 21 May, and we had a lovely turnout of avid bird watchers. Thank you to the Dainfern Nature Association for arranging this event and to André for sharing his wealth of knowledge.
Domestic Workers Forum
We held a Domestic Workers Forum on Tuesday 24 May at the Pavilion arranged by Douglasdale SAPS and CPF (Community Policing Forum). This was an opportunity to upskill our domestic staff in first aid, fire prevention, reporting of crimes, safety and security tips, as well as guidelines around the walking of dogs on the Estate. Refreshments were served to all attendees.
Going Forward
June is looking exciting with our launch of the FANTASTIC FRIDAZE on Friday 3 June and our Youth Market on 16 June at the Pavilion. As wonderful as it is to start having more and more events on the Estate, we are cognisant of the fact that Covid numbers are extremely high in this fifth
wave. We ask residents to still be cautious and hold online meetings (if possible), keep physically distanced, wash your hands often and continue
with the wearing of masks – for the safety of everybody.

Easter Celebrations
We had a wonderful celebration of Easter with a Let’s Keep Moving morning on Saturday 16 April, as well as an Easter Egg hunt and tons of entertainment for the children on a cold and rainy Easter Sunday. Parents could relax and enjoy a scrumptious lunch at SIX33 whilst their children were entertained. We thank all the staff involved for the happy smiles from both parents and children.
The Stella Artois Sunshine Tour Players Championship
The Stella Artois Sunshine Tour Players Championship has returned and was proudly hosted by Dainfern Golf Estate for the fourth year in a row. We welcomed 156 players to play on our stunning course from 21-24 April 2022. It was incredible to allow spectators back after they were not able to watch during lockdown whilst COVID restrictions were in place. We had SuperSport filming over the weekend and enjoyed fantastic coverage of our beautiful Estate on both days. We congratulate Jaco Ahlers for being the 2022 Stella Artois Players Championship Winner.
We engaged with City Power, City of Johannesburg and Eskom on a regular basis to ensure that both electricity and water interruptions are kept to a minimum. We thank our amazing maintenance team who work relentlessly, often throughout the night, to ensure that the correct teams are onsite to fix these problems. We thank our Board for their support, advice and guidance in ensuring that we do everything possible to restore these services as quickly as possible.

Golf Data, Turfnet, the Nature Association as well as the DHA maintenance teams have been hard at work to get our golf course and Estate in tip-top condition in time for our annual Men’s Club Championship which took place on 19 and 20 March. It has been incredible to see the teamwork and commitment of everyone involved and we thank you for this.

We are pleased to see the easing of restrictions that we have experienced for almost two years now. Although Covid is still with us, we can return to some kind of “normality” as we used to know it.
The rain causing havoc
We have experienced an exceptional amount of rain that has caused havoc on our Estate. Our Maintenance, Security, Turfnet and Nature Association teams have been extremely hard at work to tidy up along the river, golf course and the whole Estate so that it quickly returns to the beautiful Estate we all call home.
Men’s Club Champs
As our events are picking up too, we look forward to the Men’s Club Champs taking place on 19 and 20 March, and the Ladies Club Champs scheduled for 17 and 18 May 2022. We wish all participants well in these championships.

In Focus your community magazine – Dainfern Nature Association December 2021 and January 2022
Looking back at 2021 – it has been a year of change, frustration, various levels of the COVID-19 alert system, many people having been sick, some who have sadly passed away and a Country of resilient people that always try and stay positive, stand together, support each other, and get through each challenge.
We have many teams that assist in the smooth running of our Estate, and I would like to take this opportunity of thanking them for their service and commitment this past year: –
- We thank our management and staff for keeping our Estate running as efficiently as possible.
- The admin staff working behind the scenes to ensure that all is done to assist where possible.
- The security staff and Fidelity that are alert 24/7 to keep us and our families safe in our homes and on the Estate.
- Our maintenance team that are regularly upgrading and fixing anything and everything.
- To Frank who drives our shuttle bus so well and offers an invaluable service to our residents.
- Our golf team that run all aspects of golf – from membership to golf days.
- To the Golf Data team that keep our course in pristine condition.
- The Global Golf team at the Dainfern Golf Shop that have just the right items to purchase when they are needed.
- To the Turfnet team that ensure our gardens are always beautiful and well maintained.
- To the Trafalgar team – especially the staff working onsite, who ensure that all our finances are looked after.
- To Cleaning Africa who always strive to keep everything super clean and hygienic for us.
- To the SIX33 team for their wonderful offering of food, drinks, and entertainment for the children.
- To the Dainfern Nature Association that work so hard to ensure our nature areas, dams, birdlife, and wildlife are nurtured and protected.

The warmer weather has been welcome in addition to the beautiful rain we have had so far. The golf course is looking spectacular as it is now emerald green. We are blessed to be living and working in such a beautiful Estate.
The relaxing of restrictions to adjusted level 1 has also allowed us some more freedom, for which we are grateful. Due to this, we have been able to host several events on the Estate and we thank you for your support.
The highlight in October was our 30th Celebration of the Dainfern Country Club, which was rolled out in our Festival of Golf. It was wonderful to
see the clubhouse and golf course buzzing with activity.
The Dainfern Spring Family Fair, hosted by the MaDD team was an opportunity for families to get out and mingle on a perfectly hot day at the Pavilion. Our Oktoberfest and Halloween celebrations were extremely well supported and enjoyed by all, both young and old.
We look forward to the Dainfern Christmas Market and Christmas Carols which are such special occasions hosted by the Dainfern Homeowners Association. Come and join us as we support entrepreneurs and wind down for the end of the year, enjoying some well-deserved time out with our families and friends.
We are reminded of the increase in crime over this upcoming silly season and ask that you be extra vigilant, especially at shopping centres. Our thanks go to our incredible Security Team who are always on their toes keeping our properties and families safe around the clock.
Please take the time to support those in need around us.
There are various charities and fund-raising golf days that need you to assist wherever you can. As a community, we have always pulled together and helped when there has been a request, and for this, we thank you.
Stay safe and remember to always be kind to others.
In Focus your community magazine – Dainfern Nature Association October 2021
Spring has sprung and it is beautiful to see how one season evolves into the next. The new greenery and beautiful blossoms on our Estate are lifting the spirits of all who spend time here.
Thank you
We thank Turfnet for always ensuring that our gardens are looking their best and it makes us proud to come home to such a beautiful Estate.
Adjusted Level 2
We are relieved to be on Adjusted Level 2 currently and appreciate the slightly more lenient restrictions. We still ask everyone to be vigilant with washing their hands or using sanitizer whenever possible, wearing their masks and keeping a safe distance from others.
Upcoming Events
We are also now able to host more events on the Estate and look forward to outings with the Nature Association, the Spring Family Day kindly hosted by the MaDD Team (Making a Difference with Dainfern), Halloween fun as well as our Dainfern Christmas Market.
Dainfern Country Club – 30th Anniversary
It is with a huge sense of pride that we celebrate our 30th Anniversary of our Dainfern Country Club. This will be done with a Festival of Golf including a Ladies Day, Dainfern Golf Shop Day, Ladies and Men’s Captains Day, Sponsors Day, Greenkeepers Revenge and Mixed Open Day. Each day will be filled with exciting competition formats and prizes. Keep a look out in our weekly newsletter for more details.

We are keeping an eager eye on the development of Chartwell Corner Shopping Centre on the Cedar side of Dainfern Golf Estate. We look forward to the convenience that this will offer our residents.
Enjoy the warmer weather and stay safe!
In Focus your community magazine – Dainfern Nature Association September 2021
Women’s month was celebrated with a special brunch at our clubhouse on Saturday, 14 August 2021.
Thank you to our guest speakers for generously giving up their time and who spoke on various topics especially relevant to women — Lucy Cummings, Cherie Eilertsen, Duduza Khosana, Jacqui Kruger, Dr Maggie Mojapelo, Dr Kirsten Rinne and Karen Schaefer-Lowe.
Special thanks go to our DHA Chair, Lena Mangondo, Helen Bradley, Brent Lindeque who was our wonderful MC, as well as SIX33 and the DHA for all working together to arrange this event.
Golf Course
Golf Data is working hard to get our golf course in pristine condition for Spring and Summer. We thank them for always ensuring our course looks its best.
Nature Association Booklet
Our Nature Association has distributed their new DNA booklet in print format. Many homeowners were pleased to receive a hard copy version. Special thanks to Colleen Kreser for her hard work in coordinating this project. The online version of the booklet is also available on
our App and on our website. We thank the advertisers for supporting our Nature Association.
eWallet on our App
An exciting update with our new App is that the eWallet facility will be implemented within the next few weeks. We will keep you updated in our newsletters.
Looking Forward to Spring
Many of our residents were away during August as the schools closed for their Winter break. We are all looking forward to warmer weather and the beauty that Spring brings as our gardens blossom with new growth and beautiful colours.
Nature Association Booklet 2021
The Nature Association receives no funding from the DHA (although certain projects are undertaken jointly) so to be able to look after our heritage the committee has to raise money. Hence the IN FOCUS, the invaluable magazine which we all eagerly look forward to receiving each month. The magazine has grown from a simple couple of sheets of paper with line advertisements into what you see today – a source of Estate and Supplier information. Proceeds go towards providing the funding the Nature Association needs, in order to continue beautifying, enhancing and maintaining the estate areas.
